Old Wounds — Original Handcut Collage

Old Wounds is a one-of-a-kind, handmade collage crafted using imagery carefully sourced from second-hand charity shop books. At its heart is the iconic Well of Moses statue, a symbol of sorrow and spiritual sacrifice, surrounded by soft pink apple blossom and lush foliage. Each element has been hand-cut and thoughtfully arranged, then pasted onto A3-sized handmade cotton rag paper, giving the work a tactile, textured finish. The collage comes mounted as seen, ready to be framed or displayed as-is.

Created whilst listening to “Old Wounds” by Pvris, this piece captures the emotional undercurrent of the song — themes of pain, vulnerability, and renewal. The religious sculpture suggests ancient grief and redemption, while the apple blossom, a traditional symbol of healing, love, and hope, gently encircles the statue as if offering comfort. The contrast between stone and bloom reflects the tension in the song: the hardness of the past softened by the possibility of growth.
